Water gets tiresome and in the really hot weather sometimes water alone isn’t enough to quench our thirst. We need something that packs a bigger punch, something that is cool and sweet.
We need lemonade.
And sure you can get in your hot car and pick up a carton of pre-made lemonade on sale at the grocery store. Or you can mix up a homemade batch of delicious lemonade. With real lemons, flavoured with herbs from your garden.
I know which one I’m choosing. And because I want you all to be squeezing lemons with me I’m throwing some inspiration your way.
Five Homemade Lemonade Recipes
My homemade lemonade recipe is published here at Homemade Frontier. It works with sugar or honey, lemons or limes. In the picture above my littlest and I are enjoying raspberry limeade and ginger mint lemonade.
Rachel has a Ginger Basil Lemonade that I am really anxious to try. I do love basil and mine is ready to harvest. Rachel uses a lemon basil in her recipe. All I can say about that is – I’ll be planting lemon basil next year just for lemonade.
Peaches are just coming into season for us and I can not wait to eat them up. Kelsey the Naptime Chef posted a recipe for a Roasted Peach Lemonade and I will be getting my peaches in the oven tomorrow. Well, if the kids don’t eat them all first.
When the kitchen is hot it isn’t any fun to cook and lying in a hammock beats dinner planning. Natalia’s Green Lemonade makes a meal out of a glass of lemonade. Packed with spinach and kale it will keep us going when we start to wilt.
Strawberries are the first fruit to make an appearance at my farmers market and they just say summer to me. Laylita has a recipe for Strawberry Lemonade, with a wine spritzer option. Perfect for late night lemonade enjoyment.
Now if you’ll excuse me I have lemons to squeeze. Lots and lots of lemons.
